Good News from Mark
Two Sunday School series and podcast episodes exploring the good news about Jesus that we hear in Mark’s Gospel.
Come and join us as the curtain rises on an action-packed adventure in Mark’s Gospel!
“Jesus is Here!” is full of good news as we go back to basics to see who Jesus is. We follow the drama as he heals, helps, forgives and even quiets a raging storm! Where Jesus goes, good news follows.
“Jesus Saves!” explores why Jesus came, unpacking his glorious mission and showing our big problem and God’s big solution. Find out why Jesus is the best good news for us and for the whole world!
The thirteen lessons are jam-packed with games, questions, crafts, leader’s notes and all-age talks. The accessible language makes this a great resource to use if you are new to our lessons, just starting out in children’s ministry, or part of a small team.
To help families explore the good news at home, each lesson has:
– A simple summary with a link to a video to watch and something to talk about together.
– A Faith in Families podcast episode to listen to in the car, at the kitchen table, or curled up on the sofa.
Whether children are meeting Jesus for the first time or have heard these truths before, this series will challenge them to respond personally to Jesus’ big question, “Who do you say I am?” Mark 8:29.
Lift the curtain and enjoy discovering Mark’s good news together!

#1 Jesus Arrives! (Jesus is Here!)
Ed and Jam are back with a bang like a meteor from space crash landing into your living room – and Jam has fun facts about that! But Jam cannot compete with Ed’s AMAZING story about what happened when he went up to a fire engine in London. All of this is as NOTHING compared to what happens when Jesus is baptised. That’s when it all really kicks off! Find out more, and listen to the podcast within a podcast, featuring Jessica Seeker and Abby. The King Has Arrived is by Michael J Tinker. Check out his music here: https://michaeljtinker.com/music/
#2 Jesus Heals (Jesus is Here!)
Have you ever ridden in an ambulance? Sounds awful, exciting, scary and potentially painful. Jam and Ed, on the road and following Jesus, talk about the fastest ambulance in the world, needing help and how Jesus is willing and able to heal. Isn’t he good? Yes! Listen the full song by Dumbrocks here: https://dumbrocks.com/music/songs/isnt-he-good/ And more from Jessica Seeker and Abby… on the Seeking Podcast with Jessica Seeker.
#3 Jesus Forgives (Jesus is Here!)
Jam and Ed are blasting off with another episode in which Ed tells his long awaited story about attending a wedding without any trousers. And a fun fact about a multimillion dollar space disaster (no-one was hurt but there was an explosion). And in Mark’s gospel, Jesus looks up to see a roof being smashed to pieces! Jessica Seeker and Abby investigate on the Seeking Podcast with Jessica Seeker. Plus music from Michael J Tinker with One! You Have to be Forgiven! https://michaeljtinker.com/product/michael-and-the-topsy-turvy-kingdom/
#4 Jesus Calls (Jesus is Here!)
Ed admits to wanting a rock and roll friend, Jam has fun facts about coins and a secret design you can make with a 50p, 20p, 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p – and we meet a tax collector who is a surprising choice to be Jesus’s friends. But then again, life on the road with Jesus is always surprising! Plus music from Awesome Cutlery with Dr Jesus: https://www.awesomecutlery.com/tracks/dr-jesus/
#5 Jesus Rules (Jesus is Here!)
There’s a storm brewing on the lake! But don’t worry. The animals and fish know it’s coming. Seriously! They can sense it. Well, according to Jam’s fun facts. But, more importantly, what will the disciples do? Actually, what’s EVEN more important is what Jesus does – and says – next. We find out what happens, as do Jessica and Abby in their wake on the lake! And another wonderful single from Dumbrocks: Who is a God Like You? https://dumbrocks.com/music/songs/who-is-a-god-like-you/
#6 See Jesus (Jesus is Here!)
Do you like rollercoasters? It’s been a thrilling ride following Jesus around in Mark’s Gospel, through storms on lakes and bursting through ceilings. And now a man is about to see trees wandering around! What’s going on? Jessica Seeker isn’t falling for it, but Abby’s all in on Jesus – like Jam and Ed. And music from Awesome Cutlery with The Hero: https://www.awesomecutlery.com/tracks/the-hero/ And here’s the Ancient Tree Inventory for the UK: https://ati.woodlandtrust.org.uk
#1 Jesus Shines (Jesus Saves!)
What did Ed do when he had to jump out of plane?! Not only was Ed in the clouds, the disciples also ended up in a cloud too. Without even leaving the ground! And then something even more amazing happened. Ed and Jam are back in Mark’s gospel for the second series which means that Jessica Seeker is back too! And a song by Michael Tinker: Jesus is the Hero.
#2 Jesus Welcomes (Jesus Saves!)
You’ll never believe where Jam was not allowed to go! Have you been stopped from going somewhere? The little children want to be with Jesus. And the disciples stop them! Why? Plus fun facts about toddlers and why they don’t like certain vegetables (and it’s not their fault). More from Jessica Seeker plus music from Awesome Cutlery: https://www.awesomecutlery.com/tracks/adopted/
#3 Jesus Serves (Jesus Saves!)
Who gets to sit on St Edward’s chair? They are quite important! Have you ever sat in an important seat? Some of Jesus’s followers wanted to sit next to him, but what did Jesus say in reply? Ed and Jam find out in Mark 10:35-45. More from Jessica Seeker, who LOVES an important seat, and music from Dumbrocks. Singalong here: https://dumbrocks.com/music/songs/dont-it-make-you-wonder/
#4 Jesus Tackles Sin (Jesus Saves!)
What is the most valuable thing you’ve held in your hands? Did you know that there are coins that are worth millions! Jam reveals all. And what would make your family startled? Even shocked?! And what shocks Jesus when he gets to the Temple? We find out in Mark’s Gospel (Mark 11: 15-19)! Jessica Seeker returns and music from Slugs and Bugs: https://youtu.be/NPqlJLUUc4Y?si=zD_-10tCphG7ufm_
#5 Jesus is Worshipped (Jesus Saves!)
Ed pretends to be a snow leopard by having a go at prustenning! It’s a thing! Jam is sure about that. But snow leopards aren’t the only thing to come from the Himalayas. And it turns up in Mark 14:1-9! Jessica Seeker gets a noseful of it, but it shows us how Jesus is worthy of our worship. So why not sing Lift up your voices to Jesus with Awesome Cutlery? https://www.awesomecutlery.com/tracks/lift-up-your-voices/
#6 Jesus Died (Jesus Saves!)
This is the most amazing bit of the greatest story ever told! Not even joking. It’s the bit where Jesus dies – but that’s not the whole story! And fun facts about unbelievably poisonous frogs, Jessica Seeker is poking around the Temple and you can singalong to ‘For us’ by Slugs and Bugs here: https://youtu.be/Ji3ASyjDCnE?si=fI-Q7qI9WPNjEvMF And more about Poison Dart Frogs here: https://www.rainforestcruises.com/guides/poison-dart-frog-facts
